What is Momentum's Long Covid Management Program?
Welcome to Momentum’s Long Covid Program! This is a government-funded program through Capital Health Network, designed to allow people to access therapeutic services in their community to recover from and prevent further covid-19 infections.
More information about Capital Health Network can be found here: Capital Health Network | Home (chnact.org.au)
This program is well suited to people with persistent long covid symptoms that need assistance to get back on track, and those at particular risk of further infection due to pre-existing conditions.
This is an 8-week face-to-face intensive course, supplemented by online content, that is designed to give you the support and kick-start you need, so you can continue independent management of your condition, and thrive again!
The program consists of:
- Two sessions per week for 8 weeks of face-to-face group exercise in NeuroStudio.
- 60 minutes long: 15 minutes education / 45 minutes circuit-based exercise
- Designed to be high intensity interval training – this is the most effective for fatigue management and building functional capacity. Do not get too concerned about this – high intensity is relative to how YOU feel when completing the exercise.
- Please bring:
- Water bottle
- Clothes to exercise in including appropriate enclosed shoes
- Ensure you are hydrated – before, during and after exercise
- Ensure you have had something to eat
- Daily Inspiratory Muscle Training (Independent Use)
- Consult your extra sheet in terms of care of your device
- Consult your tick sheet for keeping accountability for when you complete your training.
- Home Program to Follow at least two sessions per week
- This will involve use of primarily body weight and Theraband (supplied)
- The online content will run you through specific exercises to complete in your home. This will follow a similar principle to the exercises completed in the face-to-face sessions (high intensity, interval training).
