Physiotherapy employs a scientific, evidence-based approach to treatment, with a focus on targeting and developing the body’s own capacity for improved function and mobility. Physiotherapy helps repair damage, reduce stiffness and pain, increase mobility and strength and improves quality of life.
Physiotherapists are highly qualified health professionals who work in partnership with their patients to help them get better and stay well. Using advanced techniques and evidence-based care, physiotherapists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent a wide range of health conditions and movement disorders.
Physiotherapists work closely with GPs, surgeons and other health clinicians to plan and manage treatment. This can occur in a wide variety of settings, including direct patient care (injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, maintenance of functional mobility and strength, chronic disease management, and occupational health) or indirect services such as health promotion or patient and carer education.
